Careers
Open positions.
QuantJourney builds data, research, backtesting and decision infrastructure for systematic investment teams. Our work turns market questions into evidence that can be inspected, challenged and acted on. Two roles are open.
01 Systematic Quant Researcher Research mandate · Full-time · 100% remote View description
We are looking for a Systematic Quant Researcher to develop and challenge quantitative investment ideas - from an initial market question to a result we can evaluate and act on.
You will build and test signals, portfolio hypotheses and research workflows. The role requires strong statistical judgement, realistic backtesting and the ability to say clearly what a result does - and does not - prove.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test and document systematic signals, portfolio ideas and research workflows.
- Design validation that accounts for data revisions, leakage, turnover, costs and capacity.
- Translate research into concise evidence, assumptions and monitoring requirements.
- Work with engineering to make research code and data inputs reproducible.
Qualifications
- A degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, engineering, economics, finance or a comparable quantitative field. An MSc or PhD is valued, but strong original work can demonstrate equivalent depth.
- Strong statistical judgement and practical command of time-series analysis, cross-sectional research, portfolio construction and performance measurement.
- Excellent Python skills for research, including clear and testable code. Familiarity with NumPy, pandas, SQL and version control is valuable.
- Evidence of original quantitative work at a fund, market-making firm, research lab or academic setting - or through serious independent research.
- A practical understanding of market data, point-in-time construction, transaction costs, capacity, execution and model risk.
- Clear written judgement: you can explain a result, its assumptions and where it may fail.
To assess
- Research notes, code, strategy write-ups, papers or other original work.
- A short four-to-five-line note on the problems you would be excited to own at QuantJourney.
02 Quantitative Developer Engineering mandate · Full-time · 100% remote View description
We are looking for a Quantitative Developer to build the data, research and simulation systems behind a robust quantitative investment process.
You will write production-minded code for models, datasets and research workflows, working closely with researchers to turn an idea into a repeatable, decision-ready result.
Responsibilities
- Develop software for market data, research, backtesting and portfolio construction.
- Build clear, testable data contracts for prices, identifiers, revisions and point-in-time access.
- Improve the reliability, performance and observability of quantitative workflows.
- Document systems and work with researchers to turn ambiguous questions into maintainable software.
Qualifications
- A degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, finance or a related technical discipline. An MSc or PhD is welcome, but strong systems work can demonstrate equivalent depth.
- Strong Python engineering skills and sound software design judgement. Experience with C++, SQL, APIs, data structures or numerical systems is valuable.
- Solid mathematics and statistics fundamentals, with the ability to work confidently with quantitative analytics, financial modelling or portfolio optimisation.
- Experience building reliable data, research or trading systems. Familiarity with market data, timestamps, revisions and point-in-time access is a strong advantage.
- High standards for testing, data integrity, numerical correctness, versioning and reproducible computation.
- The ability to turn an ambiguous quantitative question into a well-specified, maintainable implementation and explain the trade-offs clearly.
To assess
- GitHub, technical documentation, code samples, systems you have built or other relevant work.
- A short four-to-five-line note on the systems or problems you would improve at QuantJourney.
